Larry Schlack
How Would YOU Like to Take the Michigan MEAP Test?

  • The Michigan Education Assessment Program test (MEAP) has been given to high school 11th graders for many years. Larry Schlack took the test along with students at a local high school for many years so he speaks from experience as to what it's all about. His intent has been to assess whether the MEAP assesses the actual knowledge and skills needed by adults in their personal and vocational lives. His conclusion is that it does not.
  • The presentation has three parts: 1) the origin and current status of the MEAP testing process, 2) a description of the test and what it's like to take it, 3) some sample questions for audience members to wrestle with. The intent is to be informative but with a bit of humor about the whole testing process.
  • Special equipment needed: Overhead projector and screen
