Dick was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. Having attended college in Indiana (DePauw University), law school in Ohio (Ohio Northern University) and having relocated to Michigan, Dick considers himself a true Midwesterner. Locating in St Joseph/Benton Harbor near beautiful Lake Michigan was a decision of choice, and it has been home for 23 years. Dick is a practicing attorney, specializing in criminal and bankruptcy law. In his spare time, Dick is active in community theater, acting and directing. He also plays guitar and sings professionally in local clubs (professional means they bring you a free drink rather than throw it at you). He has been active in the Big Brothers/ Big Sisters Program, as well as politics.
Rotary has been a passion for Dick since 1989, when he joined the Lakeshore Rotary Club, in Stevensville, Michigan. Dick has served as club Community Service Chair, Treasurer and Secretary before becoming President in 2000-2001. International exchanges have been a big interest, with Dick helping to arrange two Russian PEP exchanges, and serving as District GSE team leader to Northern Germany in 2003. He has hosted visitors from Ireland, Russia, German and Brazil. Dick is currently the Incoming Chair for District 6360 Youth Exchange, and is actively helping to build this important program.
Dick has served as an Assistant District Governor for the last 4 years. He is a Paul Harris Fellow and Foundation Benefactor. He was selected by the District to serve as Governor in 2007-08.
