District Governor Margie Haas

Margie Haas’ professional career in­cludes legal secretary, OEM/ Government sales manager, and an educator having served in the educa­tion field as an administrative assis-tant/office manager, teacher, program director, assistant princi­pal, and principal retiring in June, 2008. She attended MSU for three years, and received her B.S. from Siena Heights Uni. and her M.A. in Secondary Educational Leadership from CMU.

Margie joined Hastings Rotary in 2005 after attending the Rota­ry International Convention in Chicago, with her Rotarian hus­band, Gene. Gene honored her with a Paul Harris Fellowship before she became a Rotarian, and since then has earned an­other PHF and is a sustaining member. Margie has been an ac­tive Rotarian serving on many committees, projects, and as President in 2013-2014. In February 2015 and 2017, she trav­eled to the Dominican Republic with members from Area 6 (and Cereal City Sunrise) Rotary Clubs. She served as President of the Rotary District 6360 Foundation 2014-2016, and has been a member of the board since 2007. Members of the Hastings Rotary Board nominated Margie for the Barry County Chamber of Commerce Athena Award, which she was honored to receive in January, 2015.

Margie enjoys swimming, walking, biking, birding, traveling, hiking, singing, rooting for the Detroit Tigers, Lions, MSU, being with her family, friends, and people. She enjoys entertaining and is known for her homemade pies. Margie is active at St. Rose of Lima church singing in the adult choir, coordinates the annual coat and blanket drive, and serves as lector and minister of the Eucharist. She supports her husband in his ministry as an ordained permanent deacon of the Catholic Church. Deacon Gene is currently serving as Rotary District 6360 Treasurer. Gene and Margie have six children, seven grandchildren, and one great-grandson. The Haas’ believe in “Service Above Self”!
